I've had a fitbiit for a year now and I really like it. Like you, my daily counts can vary quite a bit, but I do usually average 10,000/day over the course of the week. Living in San Francisco without a car does help quite a bit. I'm also always WAY over the default 10 flights of stairs goal with all of the hills! I get 10 flights just running to the corner store!

I also find it is quite accurate for me. I've watched it updating live on the app on my phone while walking and it seems to really track quite closely with my gait.

I find the fitbit to be fairly accurate. I have not counted my steps manually all day but have 'tested' it by counting steps for about 5 minutes or so and my count matches the fitbit's count.

I don't use a fitbit, but have tried to use pedometer apps on my iphone, and I find they don't seem to be very accurate, but really, how can you tell unless you manually count your own steps all day and compare? And who has the time to do that?
