Chocolate and peanut butter are a divine combination, no? I LOVE them together.
My daughter, oddly, does not enjoy the combo…so guess who eats all of her Reese's Peanut Butter Cups on Halloween? ME!
I came up with this easy chocolate peanut butter spread when I wanted to satisfy my craving but not reach for a candy bar. I needed to make something with nourishing ingredients that would satisfy my real food requirements.
This recipe has the healthy fats in nut butters and coconut oil, the anti-oxidant power of raw cacao (I prefer this over unsweetened cacao for its health benefits) and the many benefits of maca. The chocolate peanut butter spread is good on toast, apples, bananas, waffles or used as a dip for pretzels, strawberries, you name it! Heck, it is also great by the spoonful!
Give this a go and let me know how you like it! Depending on the nut butter you use, you may need a bit more coconut oil or maple syrup to make it the right consistency as I find some nut butters thicker than others.
