Beautiful Babies - Learn traditional nutrition for fertility, pregnancy and beyond!

I wish I had had access to this resource when my husband and I spent years dealing with infertility treatments, struggling to conceive a healthy child.

Today, 1 out of 7 couples struggle with infertility. This can be heartbreakingly frustrating for these couples who want nothing more than to have a baby.  I do not think this is historically normal.  Could it be the food we eat?

One of Kristen's quotes that really stuck out to me is:

“We’ve been on this planet for about 200,000 years. Until about seventy years ago, all we ever had to eat was organic food. Now, in a few short generations, we’ve gone from having organic, whole food as the norm to chemically laden, genetically modified edible food-like substances as the norm. What would have been abnormal for almost all of human history is suddenly normal? Suddenly healthier than what has sustained us for millennia? “

How true is that?

Human beings from the beginning of their time on earth have eaten food, real whole food.  Now we are eating chemical junk and suffer obesity, infertility, diabetes, cancer, you name it!  How can there NOT be a connection here?

In her book, Kristen covers topics that every parent needs to know:

  • Why nutrition matters during pregnancy/for fertility
  • Important foods and additives to avoid (Just say NO!)
  • What nutrient dense foods you should be eating/feeding your children
  • How the foods you choose can prevent morning sickness, varicose veins and stretch marks
  • The importance/benefits of chiropractic care before and during pregnancy, including the Webster technique (which I used during my pregnancy and got my breech baby to move to the right birthing position!)
  • What babies' first foods should be (and it isn't rice cereal!)
  • She finishes the book with an entire second section dedicated to recipes using sacred foods
  • Plus she gives a whole section on how to read and decode ingredient labels AND how to eat real food on a budget
This is seriously a book that is jam packed with information.  Makes me wish I was having another baby 😉

Also, if this book isn't for the stage of your life, you can give Beautiful Babies (and the ecourse) as a gift!  What a perfect gift for the pregnant or young mother in your life!!!

Here are what some people have to say about Kristen's book:

Joel Salatin — a hero of the sustainable food movement (who also wrote the book's foreword!) — said this about it:

“I find Kristen’s feisty spirit and mischievous humor both empowering and liberating. As a dad of two, husband of one, and grandfather of three, I covet these historically proven and normal principles for every family on earth. I wish this book had been around when my wife, Teresa, and I were starting our family.”

Dr. Jill Tieman, a doctor of chiropractic care and a clinical nutritionist (and VGN blogger at realfoodforager.com, said this about it:

“Before civilization, humans once had an innate intelligence about what was edible in their environment and how to prepare it in order to extract the most nutrition from it. Kristen Michaelis walks you through the minefield of conventional nutrition babble to the safety of what thousands of years of cultural traditions have shown: that vibrant health comes from eating what our ancestors ate—unprocessed foods from animals raised as they are supposed to live. This is correct nutrition that needs to be taught in every household and school and handed down from parents to children. This book should be required reading for all parents and those contemplating parenthood.”

Dr. Cate Shanahan, author of Deep Nutrition: Why Your Genes Need Traditional Food, said this about it:

“Kristen Michaelis can help rescue your child from the quagmire of unhealthy baby formulas, cereals, and jarred foods and teach you how to implement a nourishing lifestyle that is your child’s best immunization against illness. I see many happy babies growing up on these kinds of real foods, and I would like to see more.”

This is such a great book!  I hope you enjoy it!!
