I love oil pulling and have been doing almost daily for the past few months. I have noticed many benefits, namely whiter and cleaner teeth!

Recently, I started adding essential oils to my oil pulling technique.  But instead of adding them randomly or just for ‘flavor', I have been adding them with intention to what the essential oils actually do!

You can read more in depth about oil pulling, but essentially you swish a tablespoon or two coconut oil or sesame oil in your mouth for 10-20 minutes.  Then you spit out the oil and rinse and/or brush your teeth.  There are numerous benefits to oil pulling including white teeth, clearer skin and better digestion.

If you are into essential oils, there are several oils you can add to your oil pulling routine to increase the benefits of oil pulling.

Here are some that I like to use for oil pulling.  I like to add these to my oil pulling routine, depending what is going on in my mouth!

I only recommend using truly pure, therapeutic grade oils, especially if you are putting them in your mouth.  I use Young Living Essential Oils as I know they are safe to use in this way.  Be sure to always spit out your oil pulling oils as it will be full of toxins and bacteria!

Thieves

Thieves Essential Oil Blend is a combination of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata and Rosemary.  Thieves oil has myriad uses and might be one of my favorite essential oils.  It can be added to your oil pulling routine to relieve bad breath and give a feeling of freshness to your mouth and teeth.  This blend can support your immune system.

  1. This sounds like a Great addition to oil pulling! I was just wondering how many drops of oil you would add to the tablespoon of coconut oil you would pull with? Thanks so much! I enjoy your site! Keep up the good the good work 🙂

    1. I would just add one drop. Sometimes I make up a batch of oil…taking about 1 cup of coconut oil and mix it with 10-20 drops of EO and mix it all around and keep in a jar on my counter.
