5 Tips to Stay Well During the School Year

On Monday, my kids head back to school for another year of learning and fun. It is also another year of being exposed to all of the bugs that seem to be shared among students! Have you ever noticed that your family is incredibly well during the summer and then when the kids head back to school it seems to be so hard to stay well during the school year?
Well, you aren't alone! I will admit, that ever since adopting a real food lifestyle, it has been easier to keep my family well during the school year. I believe that our diet does a lot to support our immune systems. While incredibly important, diet isn't the only piece of our immune support puzzle. Here are 5 tips to stay well during the school year!
Eat Fermented Foods
We eat fermented foods everyday and take a probiotic supplement every day. One bite of fermented food has trillions of healthy bacteria ready to do amazing things in your gut. We enjoy dilly carrots, sauerkraut, pickles, milk kefir, and kombucha just to name a few! These healthy bacteria crowd out the bad bacteria and seal your gut, supporting your immune system! The healthy bacteria in your gut have many jobs so it is best to support their population to help keep you well.
Diffuse!
As soon as my kids are back in school, I have Thieves Essential Oil diffusing all day in my Therapro Diffuser. Thieves contains the powerful natural compounds d-limonene, eugenol, and eucalyptol. When I diffuse, they make my house smell amazing.
