As I have been working hard to get rid of potentially toxic chemicals in my home, I have had a lot of fun using new recipes for products such as air freshener, lotion, mouthwash and household cleaners.
Since we no longer use any synthetic air fresheners in my home, I love this carpet freshener recipe as a way to clean up odors and add a pleasant aroma! All you need is baking soda and essential oils!
What I love about this ‘recipe' is that it is super easy to personalize to whatever scent you like most! Sometimes I like to use Purification blend or Melrose blend for a fresh scent. In the winter, I love using spicy oils like Cinnamon or Nutmeg and evergreen oils like Pine or Balsam Fir. Summer may bring more citrus oils like Lemon and Grapefruit.
I sprinkle my carpet freshener on carpet, area rugs, couches and let sit for about 20 minutes. Then I vacuum up and my whole house smells fresh!
