Sole Hope: Giving Hope and Gathering Community- Libertyville, IL
November 7 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm CST
The journey to a new life for a child infested with jiggers in Eastern Uganda begins with you, a pair of scissors, and friends. Join us for an eveing of giving back, community building and fun as we cut shoe patterns to send to Sole Hope.
Sole Hope is an amazing organization in eastern Uganda that the D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation partners with and supports with the help of your donations.
- Jiggers keep kids from going to school, running, and playing.
- They prevent people from walking and working.
- People with jiggers often become outcasts.
- This small parasite negatively impacts every aspect of a person’s life.
Sole Hope removes jiggers from about 400 children’s feet a week. As part of that process, Sole Hope educates children and caretakers on how to stay jigger free and gives them new shoes made out of 98 percent recycled materials—namely old, cut-up jeans. That's where you come in!
Bring old jeans if you have them, and your best pair of scissors. Through the simple act of cutting jeans into prepared patterns you can change a child's life! $10 of your $15 will will provide the resources and mateirals to complete the shoe. It will also ensure employment for the tailors and shoemakers at Sole Hope, which in turn fuels the local economy in Jinja, Uganda.
You will go home with a 5ml Hope roll on and a happy heart!
Any additional donations are welcome and 100% will go to Sole Hope and the creation of more shoes!
OPTIONAL: Bring a non-perishable item or canned good for the local food pantry.
